We just got off of the phone with Cameron from his Christmas phone call and he seemed in good spirits :)
He told us his trailer is a two bedroom to bath and he is happy to report has a small old fashion organ. Yes, Cameron has already been playing church hymns on it. He informed us that outside of his trailer a herd of antelope freely roam. He also said that pictures of this amazing site will soon be on the way!! He assured us that his 'trailer' is extremely warm inside and that when he walks outside in the morning it is a brisk 1 degree with a 20 mile hour wind blowing in his face. I asked him if he is enjoying the snow....?? He just chuckled and said "yes." I guess after a 7 year absence from his "powdery white friend" the first couple of weeks he IS still enjoying it!!
He let us know that his small town consists of a mall with only a bowling alley, bar, cell phone store and a clothing store. The hardware store/ grocery store is owned by the town's LDS bishop and then there is a small town Library. There you have the town's shopping extravaganza, oh and for your fast food chain it's a Subway. They are 40 minutes for the nearest town and live in a coal mine city. Therefore that is where everyone is employed :)
Cameron told us he gained 7lbs while in the MTC...I guess his eating habits of home and now lack of exercise don't quite go together. He said he has had several dinner appointments since he arrived in his area and has 2 today. The girls said they are going to send him a Pilate's mat along with workout music ;))))
Cameron has requested that with care packages for the next couple of months PLEASE NO FOOD. He said it is everywhere in their trailer right now. Their cupboards are stalked their counters are covered, their table is covered, the top of their fridge is covered!! Between the members and family they are not going without food :) Just save it for an area when he won't be getting any please :)
Cameron once again asked for everyone to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to focus on the Savior and his gift to the World.

It is Christmas Day. I am sure very white where you are and very cold. It is a nice crisp day here with the sun shining. We had a very nice night with the family last night. Plenty of gifts and laughs to go around. The atmosphere was wonderful. Pleasant for everyone. We missed you, and started the evening with your mission report.
ReplyDeleteWe are proud of you and the growth you are receiving. I understand you will be in an area where you will be practically snowed in for a few weeks. That will give you plenty of time to study the Scriptures and Who What When Where Why and How they effect your life.
The Who is important as to the timing and their slant on things I think.
The What is important to gather, at first we think we may know what the what is, but after pondering for a bit, the what we thought at first, may not really be the WHAT, that was intended...
The When is really important... the Lord says He is the same Yesterday, Today, and Forever...having said that, his rules for Eternity are always there. So, what is it that we, as the individual need to know, NOW, we aren't expected to get IT all at once, so what is IT, that HE is trying to teach (ME) at this very time and moment of MY life?
The Where, I love this one...Especially when it comes to the Book of Mormon... 600 years before the Savior is born Father's Children of Lehi's Family travel across the sea, but even before that, the Jaredites traveled in Waterproof barge like boats told of in the Book of Mormon. So important it was to get people out of the Jerusalem area and the East because of cooruption so a remnant of His people would carry the truth for a longer period of time to future generations and carry the Record of the Jews to their posterity. Had the Records of the Jews stayed in Jerusalem, surely the Babylonions would have destroyed them.
Why I think may be the most important of all...Why...Why...Why is what alot of people ask themselves in any given situation, usually in a bad one. Why am I given this trial or tribulation? Why am I so blessed? I beg to differ in this... The WHY should be emphesized in Why am I needing this in my life right now? What so I need to learn from this? We are not given what we don't need from Heavenly Father. When we truly have a testimony of that, we will understand, that no matter what...this WHY is all important in our attitude in the situations that are placed in our path....WHY WAS MY APPOINTMENT NOT HERE? LISTEN...to the Spirit...You will get your answer...
How is really great too... How in the world did these Prophets have the Spirit with them to write. Note in the Book of Mormon, some just checked in..and passed it on...others you can tell really KNEW the Lord. That is what we must seek in our life here. Seek to really KNOW HIM...
I have a testimony of the gospel, I know the Scriptures are true. I remember the day I finished the Standard Works and cried all the rest of the day. It took me two years of reading while my two children took their naps but I did it, and I have continued to read and study the scriptures daily ever since. I can tell you Cameron, you will find no greater strength in life than the connection with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through Prayer and Scripture Study.
I love you, I KNOW YOU ARE DOING WELL!
